Leggett & Platt is the leading supplier of innersprings worldwide. Nearly 80% of Americans trust their sleep to innerspring sleep systems every night…and the majority of those systems come
from Leggett & Platt!

    Power Edge®

  VertiCoil® Edge

    Comfort Core™

Power Edge® (Bonnell Innerspring)

An old industry workhorse gets a boost of Power Edge® support.  Leggett & Platt presents Power Edge®, produced by intelligent computer controlled equipment developed by L&P.  Geometrically designed support coils line the perimeter of the sleep unit and increase standard edge support by 20 percent.  Manufactured exclusively by L&P, Power Edge offers complete body support for increased comfort and a sound night of sleep.

VertiCoil® Edge (Edge Innerspring)

The advantages of the revolutionary VertiCoil Edge innerspring.  Mattresses with VertiCoil Edge respond to body motions and the natural movements of sleep.

  • Has quickly become the industry's top spring

  • Offers strong support all the way to the edge of the mattress
  • Gives you cool sleep – much cooler than all foam mattresses
  • Designed specifically for firm, well-distributed support

Improved perimeter consistency.  No more excuses about why mattress support may vary around the edge. Now you can rest comfortably ... anywhere – even on the edge.

21% more coils*.  The VertiCoil Edge has a higher count than the industry standard.  A higher count means more support for you!!

  • 18% more coils  (357 Queen = 460, 312 Queen = 390)

  • 21% more coils  (396 Queen = 504, 336 Queen = 416)

You get MORE surface coverage.  That means more body support and a better night's sleep compared to industry standard units.  Take a good look at the Leggett & Platt unique VertiCoil Edge spring.  It's one more reason why the VertiCoil Edge is better than the industry standard!

Comfort Core™ (fabric-encased coil)

We can talk coil characteristics all day long – wire diameter this and gauges that.  But really, what it comes down to is comfort for you. That’s the real core of the issue, and that’s what Leggett & Platt’s Comfort Core™ delivers in their fabric-encased coil products.

Minimized motion disturbance.  Tossing and turning doesn’t have to be a shared experience.  With each coil flexing independently of the other, Comfort Core diminishes the disturbance caused by a partner moving.  So a spouse won’t wake their partner (and a toddler jumping on the bed won’t wake a sleeping baby).

Superior core support.  As soon as you curl up on a mattress with Comfort Core, you’ll experience immediate comfort and softness delivered from the top of the coil.  Then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the firm and responsive support originating from the coil’s bottom section.

Unbelievable conformability.  Our Comfort Cores definitely have a sensitive side.  They literally conform to the unique contours of a person’s body and react intelligently to them – adjusting instantly to individual sleep movements.

Rest assured – not all fabric-encased coils are created equal.

It seems everyone is making fabric-encased coils these days.  But not everyone does it as expertly as Leggett & Platt.  Here’s why they are the industry leader in fabric-encased technology.

Leggett & Platt's family of Comfort Core™ Products eliminate the need of all that fancy foam and fluff.  In fact, just their Low Profile Softech™ -- a 2.4" tall encased coil, is ideal for any application to add a luxurious, plush feel. --  A customer can lie on a Low Profile Softech™ encased coil surface without padding and it will still feel completely luxurious.

Their coils are engineered to last.  They make sure that every one of the high-tensile coils is stress-relieved for lasting resiliency – not every manufacturer does that!  So they actually hold their designed shape, feeling the same at home as they do in the showroom even after years of use.

Leggett & Platt is at the top of the technology game.  Along with owning more patents than anyone in the sleep industry, they also own the most technically advanced encased-coil machines.

All Natural Latex

Latex foam mattresses conform completely to body contours, providing exceptional comfort and support. The body contouring of the latex foam mattress encourages proper spinal alignment and reduces the stress on muscles and joints. For this reason, the latex foam mattress is recommended for anyone with back pain or arthritis. Body contouring also allows the latex foam mattress to accommodate any sleep position; whether it’s on the stomach, side or back. No matter how many times a sleeper changes positions the latex foam will automatically adjust to new body contours and angles. By continually providing support where needed, latex foam drastically reduces pressure points and improves circulation. Most sleepers change positions to relieve pressure points, and with this problem eliminated, a latex foam mattress promotes uninterrupted, deep sleep.

Dunlop Latex Talalay Latex

Dunlop Latex: The traditional Dunlop process has been used in latex manufacture since 1929. The thick rubber sap, or serum, is whipped into a froth in a centrifuge, poured into a mold, covered, and steam baked. Natural sediments in the mixture settle to the bottom of the mold. This makes every Dunlop layer slightly firmer on its bottom side.

Talalay Latex: The newer Talalay process adds two steps. After the latex is poured, the mold is sealed and the process is continued in a vacuum chamber. The mold is then flash-frozen before it's baked. Talalay latex has a more consistent cell structure from top to bottom and edge to edge. It is also more expensive than Dunlop.

Which product is Better?  We can say with confidence that neither is superior to the other. Dunlop is denser, which makes it a bit firmer overall than Talalay. Talalay is a good choice if you'd like a pillow-soft surface "feel".  What matters is which type, or which combination, will create the right comfort and support for your needs. Both make a fine mattress and are extremely pure in comparison to conventional mattress materials.

Visco Memory Foam
Memory Foam is without a doubt the most popular sleeping surface today. We've all seen the adverts. Memory foams soften at body temperature, say manufacturers, and cradle your body in order to relieve pressure and ensure deep, restful sleep. But is this really true for all memory foams?
The Most Common Visco Foam Myth: Most people believe that all visco foams are heat-sensitive and soften at body temperature. This half-true statement is used in various reports to make unfounded claims about the quality of some mattresses and toppers.
Generally speaking, all visco elastic foams respond to temperature. They are viscous (harder) at lower temperatures and softer (elastic) at higher temperatures. But the temperature ranges these memory foams react to may not be anywhere near to what your body can generate.
Two types of visco foam: Visco-elastic memory foam that reacts to temperatures much higher or much lower than your body can produce and visco-elastic memory foam that is, indeed, responsive to body heat.  However, both foam types have the ability to contour to your body's unique shape, thanks to their open-cell structure. The temperature-sensitive type has the added ability to soften at body temperature, and as a result will conform to your body contour more precisely.

About Foam
Foam density is widely regarded by foam manufacturers as the main factor determining the durability of a high density foam mattress. Durability is the ability of foam to retain its original comfort and support characteristics. In general, higher density foams are more durable. They are also more expensive to produce due to greater material content.
Density: Quality is measured by weight/density. The heavier/denser the foam the longer it will last. Foam is measured by the weight of a cubic foot: 12” x 12” x 12”.
If 1 cubic foot of foam weights 1lb it is a entry level camping grade and should be stored flat as to not crush cells. A foam needs to be at least 1.8lbs per cubic foot to be considered high density.
Firmness: Firmness or compression is measured by the amount of pressure that is required to compress an 8” disk 25% into a 4” slab of foam. This measurement is called Indentation Force Deflection (IFD).  A measurement of 40lb IFD is considered firm.  We offer foam from 15lb IFD to 130lb IFD.

Therefore firmness does not relate to quality as you can have a 1 lb low density foam that has had a catalyst added to it to make it firm, but being low density it won’t stay firm for long.
